“scientia potentia est” — Knowledge is Power
Museu da Ciência da Universidade de Coimbra - 8 September 2016
The 12th Edition of the Doctoral Programme of Experimental Biology and Biomedicine (PDBEB) of the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology (CNC) —
University of Coimbra, proudly presents this Edition of the BEB Symposium, taking place on September 8 at the Museu da Ciência da Universidade de
Coimbra (The Science Museum, part of the University of Coimbra UNESCO Heritage Site).
Celebrating the 726 years of the University of Coimbra, this edition of the BEB Symposium has as its motto the latin aphorism "scientia potentia est”
(Knowledge is power) that will guide the epilogue of a scientifically enriched day with a brainstorming session in the evening, opened to the entire academic community,
under the baton of the inverted question: Is Knowledge Power?, taking place in the evening at the Teatro da Cerca de São Bernardo.
We have invited world-renowned neuroscientists working on different fields of neuroscience, to share the state-of-the-art and the future of neuroscience research. To address the different core areas
of CNC — Neuroscience and Behaviour; Stem Cell Research; Cellular and Molecular Biology; Immunology — we invited PDBEB alumni to share the course of their professional life after their PhD and talk about their current work.
For the evening debate, we invited a panel composed of notable figures of Portuguese and international scientific, cultural and political society that will mirror a spectrum of scientific sensibilities and non-scientific relevant to the subject. This part of the event will also be broadcasted live via Rádio Universidade de Coimbra (RUC).
This edition also features the BEB Award, that will award a candidate the opportunity to travel and present their work in an International Scientific Meeting.
